Texas Steer Hides Move at Higher Prices

**Please Note – Prices and commentary will not be published on Friday in observation of the Christmas holiday. Prices will be published at 2pm CST on Thursday with commentary soon after.

Hide trading had a quiet tone mid-week with steady prices and one active trade. Hide sellers reported a limited number of bids that were lower than last traded price levels. Heavy Texas steers traded $1.50 over yesterday’s price. Sources also reported low bidding activity for branded cows, native cows, and branded bulls coming in from China. Logistics problems continue and as more cases of the COVID-19 spread, it’s reasonable to expect tanneries will either close or significantly reduce their production.
