Bidding activity for US hides was active today. Multiple sellers reported an influx of bids from several leather sectors, including footwear. Sellers speculate that tanners have leather orders in hand and have worked through most inventory.
Automotive tanners are beginning to plan for December buys and expect volumes to be fairly consistent with the small volumes, similar to where they’ve been. Most are buying at an as-needed basis.

For the week ending October 19, export sales for the 2023 marketing year increased 20.1 percent, from 528,483 to 634,779, while shipments increased 0.16 percent, from 567,274 to 568,178.
