Cattle Hide Supply Tightens As Slaughter Figures Remain Low

Midweek bidding was more active than last week, with US sellers reporting roughly 20% more bids. Steer and cow hide bids are, at best, steady to current market price levels. Sellers stated there are more cow hide bids that are at steady to current market levels than steer hide bids.
Several shoe tanners remain absent from the market, but those that are inquiring state they have little interest to pay higher than current market levels and show little urgency to buy material.
Mexico tanneries are also inactive in the trading market, but automotive tanners have begun to accept shipments again after pausing for the holidays.
