The tone in the hide market this week does not match the big USDA export sales numbers for last week. Buyers are continuing to push prices lower and are generally reluctant to commit to very large volumes—even once prices are agreed to. In the first part of the week, a few hides traded from steady to a dollar lower but most people are saying interest is sluggish.
