Sideways hide trading closes the week ended June 7

Hide trading in the week ended Friday June 7 was uneventful, with heavy native steer, branded heifer and dairy steer hides trading sideways from price levels on Thursday June 6.

Several sellers reported little closed cow hide trading because buyers were firm on paying lower than current market price levels. These sellers expect negotiations to continue into the weekend.

FibreTrace, a technology that can embed a traceable pigment into any fiber, announced a partnership with Target Corporation and Cargill to trace cotton throughout its lifecycle. Fastmarkets analysts believe that if FibreTrace is able to embed a pigment into cattle hides, suppliers and buyers could have a clearer method for traceability.
