Firm Demand for Heavy Native Steers Hides

Hide trading was steady to $1 higher today on some steer selections with customers are interested in the attractive prices. Tanners continue to face labor shortages due to COVID related disruptions and shipping issues, but buying interest remains. Heavy Native Steers are in tight supply and auto tanners are eager to buy the selection. Several suppliers reported active bidding during the holiday week and buyers are, for the most part, willing to pay current market levels. A US big packer reported one of the largest footwear tanners in China expressed interest for material at lower price levels earlier in the week, but after negotiation, came up to current market levels for good volume.
